Geography: Organizations and Associations

The American Association of Geographers (AAG) connects and supports academic and professional geographers working for businesses, government agencies, and academia.

The Colorado Geographic Naming Advisory Board (Board) is an advisory Board established by Governor Jared Polis to evaluate proposals concerning name changes, new names, and name controversies of geographic features and certain public places in the State of Colorado and then making official recommendations to the Governor.

The Great Plains/Rocky Mountains Division (GPRM) of the American Association of Geographers represents geographers and geography departments in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Utah, Colorado and Kansas. All AAG members who reside in this region are automatically members of this group.

This non-profit was founded in 1888 with the goals of scientific exploration, learning about the people and places of the world, and sharing knowledge.

The Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) is a nonprofit that provides education and training, networking opportunities, advocacy for geospatial challenges and issues, and essential resources for GIS professionals throughout their careers.
