Getting up to Speed in Information Literacy
The CCCOnline Library is committed to providing information literacy services to ensure our students develop the skill set they need to be successful in their courses and for their future. Information literacy is the set of skills needed to locate, access, understand, and use information. This becomes doubly important when considering the vast amount of information that our technological advances open up, particularly our ability to determine information’s authority, validity, and accuracy. Information literacy skills can be incorporated into many aspects of our courses, as well as stand-alone instruction and active-learning sessions.
The main authority on information literacy which is being used to form the CCCOnline Library’s information literacy plans is the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.
