Welcome!

Welcome to our guide for free and low-cost laptops for students. Our library lends laptops for a period of one week as a stop gap for broken laptops, unexpected events, or just while you work on getting a long term laptop. This guide is intended to help you figure out that long term solution. If you have questions about our laptop lending program, or these resources, please email library@rrcc.edu.

Programs for Free or Discounted Laptops

Apply for a computer
Computers with Causes provides refurbished machines to low-income families, students, veterans, and others in need. Apply online!

Buy a Laptop
ConnectAll sells highly discounted refurbished machines to those who meet eligibility requirements. Criteria includes low income and Pell Grant award. Visit their website for more information on eligibility.

NFS
Notebooks for Students sell highly discounted, high-end, refurbished laptops to students. You must verify your enrollment to qualify.

PCs for People
PCs for People sell highly discounted computers to those who receive income-based government assistance. Photo ID and proof of assistance is required for purchase. Both online or in-store options are available.
You may also be able to qualify for a fixed internet rate of as low as $15 a month

Buy from EveryoneOn
As part of a larger project to decrease the digital divide, EveryoneOn sells refurbished machines at highly discounted prices. You may also qualify for their digital assistance program where a navigator will work with you on tech skills.

Recycled PC refurbishes and gives out computers. You can find their online application using the link above.

Human-i-t
Human-i-t already offers discounted laptops, but if you qualify for benefits like SNAP or SSI, you can join their Gold Membership for even more discounts.

FreeGeek Ebay Store
Free Geek’s mission is to sustainably reuse technology, enable digital access, and provide education to create a community that empowers people to realize their potential. Check out their Ebay storefront for heavily discounted machines.

Laptops 4 Learning Application
You can apply for a heavily discounted machine here. There is a small choice of models offered, dependent of supply.

Goodwill Online
Goodwill sells refurbished laptops through their online storefront. Be careful and read through the included paperwork to know exactly what you are buying.

Student Discounts on Laptops

Best Buy List
While they don't offer a specific student discount, Best Buy has compiled a list of laptops with student budgets in mind, check it out!
Best Buy Outlet
Look for "Open box" on this site for a disocunt!

Dell Student Laptops
Dell offers a 5% discount for student who verify their email. They also provide guidance on which models fit with your program

Lenovo Student Deal
5% off for college students, additional discount options for parents of k-12 students
