Sociology Resources

Scholarly sources are resources written by academic experts or scholars in a particular field. These sources undergo an editing process called peer-review, during which other subject experts read and evaluate the author's work to verify the information and suggest corrections.

Search the individual databases under the "Find Articles" tab to the left to find both Primary and Secondary sources. You can search all of CCA's databases by using the "Search Here" box above.

American National Election Studies
The American National Election Studies (ANES) produces high quality data on voting, public opinion, and political participation to serve the research needs of social scientists, teachers, students, policy makers and journalists who want to better understand the theoretical and empirical foundations of national election outcomes.
Explore Census Data
The new platform to access data and digital content from the U.S. Census Bureau. Explore Census Data provides access to data about the United States, Puerto Rico and the Island Areas gathered from the American Community Survey, Economic Annual Survey, Decennial Census, and Economic Census.
National Historical Geographic Information System (NHGIS)
Easy access to summary tables and time series of population, housing, agriculture, and economic data, along with GIS-compatible boundary files, for years from 1790 through the present and for all levels of U.S. census geography, including states, counties, tracts, and blocks.

International Center for Research on Women
The International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) is a global research institute that identifies women’s contributions as well as the obstacles that prevent them from being economically strong and able to fully participate in society. Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping the world. They conduct public opinion polling, demographic research, content analysis and other data-driven social science research.
