What is Evidence-Based Practice?

Evidence-Based Practice in healthcare is "the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients" (Sacket et al., 1996, p. 71). It is a framework to inform clinical decisions using the best available evidence, clinical expertise, and individual patient preferences.
