Welcome to the History Research Guide

The purpose of this Guide is to help take you through the process of reading, researching, and writing in PPSC History Courses. Practicing a quaternity of skills--listening, reading, thinking, and writing--is essential to your success; make no mistake about it, we want to see you succeed in history courses.  Succeeding means that at times you will struggle; this struggle is a natural part of learning.  Embrace it, and see it as a challenge.  Use and master your resources, linked in this LibGuide; you will end up with valuable skills that are not only important in life as a college student, but also the job market, during elections and at the voting booth, and in decision making in your everyday life.

How to use this guide:

  • See the tab for Reserves to view textbooks and supplementary materials for history courses available within the learning commons.
  • See the tab of Articles and Journals for a list of Databases
  • See the tab for Books, eBooks, and Videos  for those items.
  • See the tab for Primary Sources to learn more about what they are and get a list PPSC books with primary source documents.
  • See the tabs to the left indicating a geographic area for a list of resources related to the history of that area.
  • See the Maps tab for links to geographical information.
