Resources for Learning the New Library Databases

Welcome

Welcome to the new Colorado Community College System online library! Electronic resources are now shared among Colorado's community college libraries, providing up-to-date, robust, and equitable research and learning resources for all students and faculty.  This guide gathers in one place the training and user materials provided by each of the database vendors.  However, if you have any questions at all, please contact Marcus Elmore, CCCS Access Services Librarian, for assistance.

(Vendors are arranged by tab across the top.)

EBSCO Discovery Service

The CCCS Online Library subscribes to the EBSCO Discovery Service, which allows users to quickly and easily search across most of our databases at once. While there are specific cases where searching a single database is useful, generally you are best served by starting your search in the Discovery Service.  Simply enter keyword(s) in the search box at the top of the Library's homepage and click "Search." For more options, you can change "Keyword" to "Title" or "Author" using the dropdown menu to the left of the search box.  Checking the "Peer reviewed (scholarly) only" box below the search box will restrict your search results to articles which appear in academic journals.  Clicking the "Advanced Search" link will take you to the full search screen, where you will have even more options.  If you have questions about search strategies, contact a librarian -- we're always happy to help you with your research!  (A brief video tutorial about using the Discovery Service can be found here.)
