Psychology Resources

Welcome to the Psychology Resources Research Guide.  The goal of this guide is to help you locate a variety of trustworthy resources relating to psychology and mental health. These resources can help you complete your assignments with accurate and timely information. The following is a description of what you may find on each tab:

  • Databases: recommended databases for researching scholarly and peer-reviewed articles for the subject of psychology.
  • Secondary Sources: magazines and journals that often cover psychology topics. These can include papers describing results from original research studies, plain-language summaries of research findings, or the impact of study findings (i.e. why the research matters to everyday people, which is how newspapers and magazines often cover scientific topics). This page describes how to find the full-text articles online or in the physical copies at Harmony Library.
  • Books and eBooks: books and ebooks related to the subject of Psychology. The video tutorials how to search the Poudrelibraries.org catalog (online search engine for items available through the library), as well as using Prospector to find items in libraries across Colorado. You may also search the catalogs directly from this page. A list of featured titles are displayed with links to more information  and a "hold" button so the books can be set aside for you to borrow! Please note: for physical books, you will need a Poudre Libraries card, which is free and easy to get!
  • Websites with Research: useful websites with research reports on psychology and mental health issues; some are government websites, some are nonprofits, some are professional associations.
  • Audio and Video Resources: podcasts, documentaries, TedTalks, Youtube channels, news segments, and other media that highlight psychology topics. Research findings can be presented in a lot of formats! They also should cite where they got their information, so you can confirm they are accurately representing what the researchers studied and their results.
  • Psychology Programs and Careers: in-state university psychology departments and links to top-rated psychology programs around the country. Also included are psychology career help and links to professional associations.
  • Citation Help: information relating to properly citing your research. Included are citation style guides in the library, as well as video tutorials and links to citation tips.
