In-Text Citations

Chicago Manual of Style uses footnotes to cite sources within your paper. A superscript number will follow your quoted material and it will correspond to the citation at the bottom of the page. Microsoft word can do this for you, see the video on the Video tutorial page.

Book (1 author):

1. First name Last name, Title of Book (Publisher Location: Publisher, Year), pages cited.

Book (2-3 authors):

2. First name Last name and First name Last name, Title of Book (Publisher Location: Publisher, Year), pages cited.

eBook:

3. First Name Last Name, Title of Book (Location of Publisher: Publisher, Year of Publication), DOI or URL.

Journal article:

4. First Name Last Name, "Title of Article," Journal Name volume #, issue # (Month or Season Year): page numbers used, DOI or URL.

Website:

5. First Name Last Name, “Title of Web Article,” Title of Site, publication or last modified date, access date only if no publication/modified date, URL.
