RRCC OER Advisory Committee

Mission Statement 

The mission of the OER Advisory Committee is to build the structure, culture, and assessment of Open Educational Resources at RRCC. 

Description 

The OER Advisory Committee is a faculty-led, college-wide group, comprised of faculty, administration, and staff, who coordinate efforts to expand the adoption of open educational resources at RRCC.  The scope of the committee’s work includes recommending and building the necessary structure to support open educational resources; supporting the growth of OER culture, including mentoring, and advising faculty on adopting and/or creating OER; considering all college financial impacts, and collecting evidence to support continuous quality improvement as it relates to OER.  This committee will be composed of:

• At least six faculty or instructors, with the goal of including a minimum of two academic faculty and
• Two CTE faculty or instructors, preferably at least one faculty member from each community  
• A member of the Academic Affairs Leadership team 
• A representative from Instructional Technology and eLearning 
• Co-chaired by an administrator and a committee-elected faculty member 
• At least one member from Library Services 

 Goals 

The OER Advisory Committee will support the adoption of Open Educational Resources by: 

• Mentoring and advising faculty on the adoption of OER.
• Maintaining standards and best practices for adoption and/or creation of OER.
• Make recommendations to the President, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Deans, and RRCC IT regarding development, funding, and procedures. 
• Work with marketing and advising to market ZTC courses and degree paths to students. 
• Establishing benchmarks and procedures for evaluating the success of OER projects and initiatives. 

• Assess progress on ZTC degrees and pathways, making recommendations where necessary.
